Standout entrepreneurs Cheri and Justin Lingafelt were both only 23 years old when they opened Accent Prone in their hometown of Kernersville, NC.
That was back in 2012 — a mere 14 years ago — or what also translates to two kids later, a second location later, and countless new friends and loyal customers later. Through brave new trends and timeless traditions, they’ve balanced family time with sons, Brooks and Beckett, long, but energizing workdays, and literally everything in between!
Both Accent Prone retail locations are true havens of inspiration for those looking to create a home that welcomes them at the end of the day with style, comfort, and pieces that speak to their personality. Cheri’s non-stop love for interior design means that exciting side of the business is also constantly evolving — offering space planning, e-design and thoughtful in-home design.
The Accent Prone team you’ll meet today is creative, intuitive, personable, and passionate about great style. Their favorite thing to do is help you find the perfect accent piece for your home — and their always unique insight makes the Accent Prone experience priceless.

14th Anniversary Reflections from the Accent Prone Team
Cheri: One of my favorite memories over the past 14 years is doing a room makeover contest that my sweet friend, Katie Riddle, won — which turned into us making over rooms for her sweet, adopted children from Nigeria, Miracle and Testimony. Years later, Testimony now works at our store and babysits my son! A full 360 moment!
Justin: The part about owning a business that I cherish most is the relationships I’ve been able to form along the way, whether with colleagues, customers, vendors, or anyone else who walks through our doors.
Madison: One thing I love about working here is how collaborative my work family is. Each of us brings different strengths, and our leaders recognize them and empower us to take the lead in those areas.
Emma: Working at Accent Prone means noticing how individual pieces of a design make up a beautiful whole. I think this philosophy shines through in many ways at Accent Prone — especially in the work we produce and the ways in which our team works together.
Julie: As I reflect on my 13 years here at AP lots of memories flash in my mind — lots of laughs, a ton of hard work, and wonderful customers who have become friends. I could not ask for better “bosses” and a more fabulous place to work! Happy 14th Anniversary Accent Prone!
Testimony: One of my favorite memories from Accent Prone was winning their kids’ room makeover when I was eight years old. The AP team designed the coolest rooms ever for my brother and me — it was magical. Now, years later, I get to work at Accent Prone and help create that same kind of magic for others, which feels incredibly special.
Mary: We have beautiful and unique finds at Accent Prone, and lots of great customers who feel like friends. It’s a great place to work — with such a fun, talented team.
Erica: One of my favorite memories was when we were moving to our current location in Kernersville. Julie and I made many trips across the parking lot in her Tahoe. The trunk was open, I was hanging off the back trying to hold all the things inside. We laughed so hard we cried. We had this beautiful new space to call “work”, and it seemed like the possibilities were endless.
Alexandra: Some of my favorite memories at AP have come from helping customers grow more confident in their personal design style. I love helping to create spaces that are rooted in feelings and meaningful memories, rather than the idea of perfection.
