I was in the corporate world for 10 years. Feeling unfulfilled, I left on a mission to empower women to improve their lives by living happy and healthy!
The journey to my passion started when I was about 8 years old. I spent my entire childhood overweight, and being bullied by my classmates. Although I attended several coaching programs, none of them helped me to lose weight AND keep it off. By the time I was in college, I weighed close to 300 pounds. I was so disconnected with my body that I was pregnant and didn’t know it until the day I went into labor.
My experiences have given me a first-hand experience, not only in the physical, but also the emotional effects of being overweight. This is what drove me to commit myself to helping others find their inner strength to love themselves and their bodies.
Top 5 Tips for Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle
- Well rounded diet
- eat foods from all food groups
- always eat breakfast
- drink plenty of water
- practice portion control
- Support system
Whether it’s in the home, in the office, or a group of people on Facebook, having people with similar goals around to hold you accountable and lift you up during challenging days is imperative.
- Regular activity (30 minutes a day)
This doesn’t mean you have to join a gym, but do something you enjoy that gets your heart rate up. You can go outside with the kids and play soccer, or have a jumping jack challenge inside. This is your chance to get creative and have fun at the same time.
- Rest and relaxation
- make sure to get plenty of sleep
- manage your stress
- enjoy the present
- maintain a healthy work/life balance
- HAVE FUN!
Get a group of friends or family together and find some events to participate in together: a 5K that raises money for something you are passionate about, whitewater rafting, hiking, or even rock climbing!
