Footnote: The Latest Addition to the Foothills Family

Maybe you have a third kid. Maybe you ARE a third kid.

If so, then you might know a bit about how we felt when we opened our third location earlier this year.  Footnote, which sits right next to our original downtown location on 4th Street, is Foothills Brewing’s newest place. And like our brewpub and tasting room before it, Footnote is a hybrid of the things we love – namely, good drinks and great times.

Ironically, our ‘third kid’ has three ways to deliver those things.

COFFEE:  Believe it or not, coffee is almost as popular a beverage with us as beer. Co-owners Jamie and Sarah got a coffee roaster as a wedding present when they married (yes, the reception was at our brewpub). Ever since, they’ve had a passion for coffee and coffee roasting. As a result, Footnote has its own commercial roaster and features responsibly sourced coffee beans from four different continents, prepared at a variety of different roasting temperatures (light to French roast). But hot coffee’s not the only brewed beverage on the menu – there’s cold brew and nitro cold brew, French press, espresso, several different teas, specialty coffee drinks, seasonal smoothies . . . a little something for everybody.

What makes good coffee better (besides cream and sugar)? Good food. Foothills’ own Executive Chef Shane Moore and his talented pub kitchen staff have created a large assortment of goodies that complement Footnote’s coffee – all prepared fresh and from scratch daily. There’s plenty to choose from for breakfast or lunch in our Grab n’ Go cooler, and a variety of small plates are available from 11 am ‘til closing.

Here’s where we should do the neighborly thing . . . and mention our neighbor. Bookmarks, Winston-Salem’s premier literary arts nonprofit organization, has a bookstore that connects to Footnote. They’ve made it their mission to foster a love of reading and writing in our community. Any beverage you purchase at Footnote is welcome in Bookmarks as you browse the store – and of course, any book you acquire in Bookmarks is welcome to be enjoyed in Footnote.

DRINKS: While coffee and food are available all day every day, we’ve also built in some fun libations to help ‘transition’ your day into afternoon and evening (hey, we’re a brewery). We, of course, always have plenty of our craft beer available – 10 taps worth in fact. We’ve also put together what we think is one of the more comprehensive cocktail-slash-premium wine and liquor menus in the city.  Signature cocktails unique to Footnote dominate our drink menu, with ingredients ranging from our own cold brew coffee and made-from-scratch clover honey syrup to house-smoked salt.

EVENTS: Perhaps the biggest impact Footnote has had on downtown Winston-Salem has been in offering the most unique new event space in town. Spacious, unassuming, versatile, surprisingly intimate – our event services can handle everything from a small business breakfast or lunch to a shindig with 250 guests. All events are supported by a state-of-the-art audio/visual system, full catering and beverage options, and plenty of parking right outside.

Need more? We put patios on both sides of the building for those memorable Carolina afternoons and evenings. And we regularly host a full range of events for interests of every kind – yoga every weekday morning, live music every Friday in our breezeway, salsa classes the second Thursday of every month – just to name a few!

Bottom line? Any time you’re looking to take a little break – or throw a big party – Footnote provides a refreshingly relaxing alternative.

Footnote is located at 634 West 4th Street, St. 120 in downtown Winston-Salem, NC.

Open 7a-11p Mon-Sat, 9a-4p Sunday.
