The selections below offer advice and guidance on situations, such as marriage, disappointments, and motivation.

Keep Showing Up: How to Stay Crazy in Love When Your Love Drives You Crazy by Karen Ehman

Writer Denise Heidel knew the power of this book before it was even released. As a member of the launch team for the novel, she stated, “It is going to be a lifeline for many frustrated women who are ready to give up on their vows.” Keep Showing Up gives a Christian perspective on marriage and encourages readers to look at marriage and themselves from a Biblical point of view. Ehman provides readers advice on how to let God change husbands and wives in their marriage and overcome the habits and characteristics of our loved ones that drive us crazy. In addition, she shows how the disagreements can actually bring a couple closer to each other and closer to God. “This is a great read for any woman no matter what season of marriage, and honestly, I think it’s a great book for single women, too. I found several takeaways that will benefit me in other situations,” said Heidel. “Karen’s writing style is funny and relatable. She is totally transparent and in the process, gently applies wisdom and experience to the common frustrations that come with married life.”

Also, she provides guidance on how to make wise choices and understanding the full potential that God has given them. Readers can relate to Bure’s own struggles in life and see the struggles through a biblical perspective. Once done with the book, you will walk away feeling motivated to maintain a healthier, faith-filled lifestyle.

It’s Not Supposed to be This Way: Finding Unexpected Strength When Disappointments Leave You Shattered by Lysa TerKeurst

Most people have moments where they wonder about God’s timing and the situations that are occurring in their lives. In her book, TerKeurst looks at the question, “What do you do when God’s timing seems questionable, His lack of intervention hurtful, and His promises doubtful?” During our lives, there are times we are caught off guard, and there are times that leave us lost and disillusioned. Throughout her disappointments, TerKeurst has learned that disappointments can actually be “divine appointments our souls need to encounter God.” Readers gain insight and lessons into how our faith can help us through these tough times. In addition, readers are given advice on three strategies to conquer our enemies, as well as learn how to not panic when we are given more than we think we can handle. It’s Not Supposed to be This Way was also suggested by Denise Heidel. “This was my first book of 2019 and it was a game-changer. When it comes to disappointments, Lysa TerKeurst is a survivor. She has experienced the highs and lows of life; she uses her experiences and heartbreak to show others how to lean on God no matter how painful our circumstances,” Heidel stated.

We all share similar struggles, whether we know it or not. The good news is that there is assistance and support available to help you through these less than pleasant times.
