The View From This Side – June 2019

We are at my favorite time of the year.  I love summer.  I love the time spent outdoors with my family and friends.  It’s a wonderful time of the year and I hope you are all looking forward to making some wonderful memories, too.

If you read regularly, you realize how important this is to me – now, more than ever.  Between my second trip down Breast Cancer Lane, my husband’s stroke in January, and health issues with my dad, I appreciate more than ever how valuable this time is.

Speaking of dads… I want to wish my dad, Kelly Groce, a wonderful Father’s Day.  I am blessed beyond measure to have him in my life. He has been a constant encourager, champion, mentor, and dear friend to me for my whole life.

In addition to my dad, I’m also blessed with an amazing step-dad and incredible husband.  These men, along with my dad Kelly, are my rocks. I’m so lucky to have each of them. I love them more than words can say.

This month’s issue features Homestead Hills and as my dad’s health issues continue, I’m so grateful for facilities like this.  My dad has been thriving in an assisted living home since February and loves spending time with the ladies in his home.  With all that said, the placement of Homestead Hills on this month’s cover is especially meaningful for me.  This has been a year of tremendous change and eye-opening life lessons, including the importance of planning ahead and talking about these kinds of things! Families can’t shy away from these conversations about elder-care wishes, needs, and plans.  I hope you enjoy this article and make note of the sound advice they offer to our readers this month.

The lazy days of summer may be upon us, but lazy would never describe us.  We are tremendously busy, working hard every month on the magazines and planning for one of my favorite days of the year that’s coming up in October – Tour de Boutique!  Start saving now, but go ahead and reserve your seat!  Details about our trip and how to register are found on page 95.

I’m thankful that you’ve picked up this issue of Forsyth Womanand appreciate you for reading.  Please make sure you let our advertising partners know you have seen their ads and read their stories!  They are the ones who enable us to make these magazines free to the community each month!

Until next time…  Have a great month and Happy Father’s Day!
