Swanky & Swag Trendy. Southern. Style.

Step into Swanky & Swag in Lewisville, and chances are you will have found your new happy place!

It’s really as simple as that, and owner Whitney Boger couldn’t be more proud of her winning combination of salon and boutique in one, a dream that grew out of her hobby of jewelry making, and her love for people.

“My daughter and I made earrings for teacher gifts one weekend, and we made so many I took them to my hair salon (Bangz Hair Studio) and sold them!” explains Whitney. “From there, I started doing vendor events and continued to add new items to my booth.”

Next, she bought a vintage camper and continued doing events all over the Triad during 2018, including Southern Charm at the Farm, and the Foothills Tasting Room Markets. By October 2018, Whitney was hard at work rebranding her business and joining her two passions.

“Hairstyling has been my passion since I was a little girl,” she says. “The boutique aspect is my new-found love. I love meeting new people!

She also wants shoppers to find things they wouldn’t find anywhere else, including small sizes to plus sizes. “I like to keep my items affordable for all shoppers, too,” says Whitney.

Swanky & Swag is quietly tucked into cozy retail space in Lewisville, but it’s made a big impact on local shoppers, with a diverse inventory that’s a nod to Whitney’s favorite Boho Southern style. She’s also an enormous fan of the “buy local” movement and supporting artists in the area. Amid the boutique’s jewelry offerings are many locally – and beautifully handcrafted – pieces.

“As a business owner for the last 14 years, the community has supported me so much,” says Whitney. “Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” she says of what she dubs “rock star” ladies in the community who are business owners themselves.  “Their support for one another absolutely amazes me – it’s always community over competition!” she says.

Swanky & Swag carries a wide array of fashionable, trendy items, from clothing, shoes, and handbags, to unique jewelry, and novelty décor, where you’ll notice some country music references sprinkled around, several super artistic jewelry lines, including Betsy Pittard out of Georgia, a line that Whitney discovered via a longtime salon customer, and a stunning solid copper collection called Torch & Hammer.

“One of our best sellers, aside from clothing, is probably our leather cowhide bags and fun leather jewelry,” explains Whitney. “I get excited every time I get new bags and jewelry in. Our bags are one-of-a-kind!”

As the sole buyer for the boutique, Whitney enjoys offering something for every taste. But she does admit to her own vintage, Southern soul, which she can’t help but reflect in the shop’s collections.

Browsing through the boutique – with wooden, whitewashed décor that’s as cozy and comfortable as it gets – you can’t help but notice novelty signs that read “Farmhouse” and “Sweet Tea” – setting just the theme and feel Whitney had always envisioned for the business. Her dream of opening her heart and her Southern roots to discerning customers is now a charming reality.

This past winter, Swanky & Swag invited customers to contribute gently used coats for Give a Kid a Coat, and they plan to participate in more “giving back” campaigns in the future.

“Whether it’s in the hair salon, at vendor events or here in the boutique, I get to know more and more about people who share my same passions,” says Whitney. “I am truly blessed to have so many friendships that I’ve made throughout my journey this past year.”
