Publisher’s Perspective; December 2024

This past month has been incredibly special—I GOT ENGAGED! Gavin’s proposal was the sweetest surprise during our gym’s (Washington Park CrossFit) 2nd Anniversary Party. It was extra meaningful to be surrounded by so many of our members, and my parents and grandparents were there, too! He pretended to be taking a group photo of all of us, but instead, the camera was recording a video. When he stepped into the frame, he got down on one knee!

The following weekend was filled with even more love as we celebrated a special family wedding! On my dad’s side of the family, there are only three girl cousins, each of us 10 years apart—Kelley was born in 1980, I was born in 1990, and Alexandra in 2000. We were overjoyed to celebrate Alexandra and Ryan on their big day. Congratulations, Alexandra and Ryan! Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness!

This month, we’ve put together our holiday gift guide! You know we love supporting local businesses, and this guide is all about encouraging our readers to shop local. Whether you’re looking for med spa services, fitness goals, a unique conference experience, or even a donation to a local non-profit—there’s something for everyone on your list. Pick up a physical copy of the magazine to check out our gift guide! It begins on page 56.

Our stunning cover this month features Mary Coffey of Boutique Wellness and Manolo’s Boutique Wines and Bistro. The historic Rosenbacher House, where this was shot, is one of my favorite spaces in Winston-Salem. You can read more about it HERE.

Here are some other highlights from this issue:

  • In her “Hustle and Heart” column, Taryn shares her top 10 tips from 2024, covering topics from Boundaries to Bold Moves.
  • Don’t miss our very special Christmas Girls’ Night Out on December 10th at Legacy Stables and Events. Learn more and grab your tickets.
  • Western NC is still recovering from the recent hurricane, but Beech Mountain is open and ready for business! There’s no better way to help out than by taking a day trip or long weekend to ski, snowboard, or tube. Beech Mountain is a personal favorite of mine and only two hours away!
  • Suzy shares four New Year’s Eve bubbly recommendations so you can toast 2025 in style while supporting local NC wineries.

Wishing everyone a beautiful holiday season!
