August 2021 Brooke Notes

Even though I’ve been out of school for nearly ten years now, August will always mean “back to school” for me. I vividly remember the excitement of waiting for the mail to run to see who my teachers would be each year and then heading to Staples—list in hand—to carefully pick out the perfect school supplies. I am so grateful to all of our educators for grooming the next generation. Teaching is a tough job and it takes a special heart to be willing to not only take on the challenge, but to be passionate about their job and their students, day in and day out. I encourage you to give all the teachers in your life a heartfelt “thank you” next time you see them. They are front-line workers in making a difference in our world.

Every August, we collect school supplies for the Educator Warehouse at our Girls’ Night Out event. This year is no different! Join us Tuesday, August 10th at Foothills Brewing for food and drink specials and tons of door prizes. Don’t forget your school supply donations for extra prize board tickets! Haven’t heard of the Educator Warehouse? Learn more about this amazing local program HERE.

This month, we’ve featured Budget Blinds on our cover. I have personally worked with Mack on quite a few home projects (spoiler alert: they do way more than just blinds) and I can’t say enough good things. Window treatments certainly have a way of making a house feel like a home.

We are thrilled that our 2021 Tour de Boutique event is coming up in just a couple of months! Join us on Saturday, October 2nd for a day full of shopping local and fun with your best girlfriends. This is the 16thshopping trip that our team has organized and in my totally unbiased opinion, I think it’s going to be the best one yet. Check out Denise’s ‘litmus test’ about the Tour HERE! You can learn more and sign up for the event at tinyurl.com/2021FWTDB. Don’t wait too long though! Registration closes on September 9th.

Looking for a new podcast to tune in to? Check out the Forsyth Magazines podcast. We’re more than 65 episodes deep and have learned so much about local businesses, non-profits and events over the last year and a half. You can listen on Spotify, Apple Podcast or any major podcast streaming platform.

Oh, and if you aren’t already, give us a follow on social media—you can find us @forsythmags on any and all social media platforms.

Wishing you a happy and healthy August with all the back-to-school excitement that this time of year brings!

All my best,

B
