Yours Truly: Friendships Made and Treasures Found

Little did Chelsea Spaugh know when she began working at Yours Truly Consignment while in high school that the store would someday belong to her. Yet, that is how life works sometimes, and Chelsea, with the support of her husband Brock, couldn’t be happier about it!

Yours Truly Consignment was started by Lynn Booker over 30 years ago and has been located at 835 Reynolda Road NW for the past decade.  After many successful years in the consignment/retail business, Lynn had thought about retiring in early 2020 and then, well… you know, pandemic!

Plans were altered and Lynn worked with Chelsea on a timeline that would work best for everyone involved.  And on August 1, 2020, Yours Truly officially became Chelsea’s very own consignment boutique!  Lynn made no bones about the fact that it had to be Chelsea or it wouldn’t be anybody!  After so many years working together, the two women consider each other family, and Lynn knew that Chelsea would be the only person she would have confidence in to continue her work with as much passion as she had herself.

From the minute you step inside this West End treasure, you feel welcomed and at ease as you browse the aisles taking in the enormous variety of ladies’ clothing, accessories, shoes, and jewelry.  In addition to the fabulous consigned items, there is also an amazing selection of jewelry made by a local artist! Cleverly and efficiently displayed, Chelsea or one of her part-time colleagues will point out any sales or promotions that are underway and ensure that you don’t miss the furniture and household items on the lower level. It’s also nice to know that all unsold items are donated to local charities.

“No two days are ever the same,” said Chelsea, “and I love that I have been seeing some of the same people shop in the store for 15 years; they are friends now, not just customers!”

Chelsea said that another thing that makes her work so joyful is never knowing what’s going to be brought in by the more than 100 consignors!  And her customers surprise her, too!  Like the time she thought she recognized her elementary school music teacher browsing and it did indeed turn out to be her.  They chatted, reconnected, and are now good friends who are in touch all the time!

I asked Chelsea what was in the future for Yours Truly, and she said in addition to growing the shop’s social media presence, she is looking forward to the 2nd Annual Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday, October 30th!

“There will be snacks, sales, and surprises!” she said.   Customers can park on the street in front of the shop or in the large parking lot behind it.

When Chelsea isn’t managing one of the longest-running retail shops in the Triad, she and husband Brock (high school sweethearts who went their separate ways but were later reunited!) stay busy with Marley-Dog and Kisses, their two 4-legged babies.   “I am thankful for the support of everyone who stuck by us and everyone coming in, old and new friends alike!”

Give Yours Truly a “like” on Facebook and follow on Instagram, both at Yours Truly Consignment Shop, and make plans to stop in on October 30th for snacks, sales, and surprises!  The shop is located at 835 Reynolda Road NW in Winston-Salem.
