The View: March 2018

Right before we started production on this issue, my daughter and I, along with some of our best friends, enjoyed a long girls’ weekend in Cancun, Mexico.  Our trip was coordinated by Jackie Ireland of Cruise Planners, and it was a marvelous trip!  We had such a great time!  We worried about making it to the airport since our trip was scheduled two days after our inclement weather in January!  But we made it, and it was great to escape the frigid winter and spent a few days enjoying warm tropical breezes and fruity drinks!  See pictures on page 120.

After some wonderful R&R, it was also great to come home to do what we love.  And as we got into the full swing of March production, I began to think about “luck.”

What constitutes luck versus a blessing?  March is synonymous with “luck,” but the older I get, the more I realize it’s not so much luck as it is hard work, commitment, and the support of the people around you!  I certainly can’t credit the success of Forsyth Magazines to something as arbitrary as “luck.”  It’s a blessing, and I’m blessed by our team, our advertisers, and you – our readers.

And speaking of blessings – I have to give a shout out to my amazing son-in-law, Chris Eagle, who celebrates his 30th birthday this month on March 17th! I love you, Chris, and we are so happy you’re a part of our family! Welcome to your 30s!

When I consider the 13 years of being a part of the community and then see a cover story like this month’s – I realize I’m not alone.  Talk about perseverance and commitment!  The people behind Hakka Chow are a shining example of hard work in our community.  Plus, they are one of my favorite restaurants!  I hope you’ll check out their cover story!

Also, we have GNO this month at Providence Restaurant.  It’s going to be a great night of fun, and we hope you and your girlfriends will make a point to join us!  See page 35 for full details!

If you’re a long-time reader, you already know that I have a special place in my heart for Komen.  As a survivor, I realize the important role this organization serves in our community.  But now that my best friend is a survivor, too, Robin and I are thrilled to be the media sponsors this year for Komen.  Please go ahead and mark your calendar for May 5th and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  We’ve named our team “The Pink Ladies of Forsyth Magazines,” and if you’re interested in joining, we’d love to have you!  It’s going to be a great event.   Please check out the article on page 20 that kicks off our media sponsorship!

Friends, it’s always my privilege to write to you, and take a few moments to remind you again of how thankful we are for you!  Thanks for reading and allowing our magazine to be a part of your month!  Please make sure you let our advertisers know you saw them in this month’s issue!  (After all, we want them to know it’s more than luck that you showed up to patronize their business!)
