TAKE COURAGE: Leadercast Women

BY JEN OLENICZAK BROWN

I don’t know about you, but I love being around groups of women. There is something magical when motivated women get together for a common cause:  the energy in the room, the conversations that just make you want to take action, and the incredible support network. I still remember a women’s conference I went to a few years ago, and I still lean on those women when I need support in my work and home life. The quote “Never underestimate the power of a woman” goes tenfold when you get an organized group of women together under the same roof.

In this case, that roof is WinMock at Kinderton in Bermuda Run and that purpose is learning about courageous leadership from nine world-renowned experts and local influencers from North Carolina at Leadercast Women Lewisville-Clemmons, presented by the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce.

On October 18th, Leadercast Women Lewisville-Clemmons, will host a live simulcast event, an Atlanta-based day of learning that boasts names like Kendra Scott, founder, CEO and designer of jewelry brand Kendra Scott; Captain Deshauna Barber, a logistics commander in the US Army Reserve and Miss USA 2016; Glennon Doyle, New York Times best-selling author of Love Warrior and Carry On, Warrior; Luvvie Ajayi, award-winning author, speaker and digital strategist; and Priya Parker, master facilitator, strategic advisor, and acclaimed author of The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why it Matters. Those are only a few of the powerhouse women speaking throughout the day – add Hollywood’s Body Language Expert, Triad local Blanca Cobb, who is serving as the local emcee and special guest speaker, and you have an unstoppable lineup.

“I’m so excited that we’re bringing this powerful leadership event to women in our area who are making a difference every single day in their homes, on the job, and in the community,” says Ditra Miller, Executive Director of the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce. “This day is designed especially for them to unwind, recharge, and connect with like-minded women.”

Centered around the theme of courage, the goal of daring leadership in workplaces and home lives hit a timely moment in history. While men still greatly outnumber women in leadership, women are digging in and taking their space in the realm of leadership. According to a recent Skillsoft survey, nearly 70% of the female participants felt their employers did not provide adequate resources and professional development opportunities to support their careers.

“The theme of courage, feeling the fear and doing it anyway, is what many women feel, but don’t want to admit. Having a panel of speakers who’ve succeeded in their respective careers in spite of their fears gives hope, strength, and strategies to other women to seize opportunities,” said Blanca Cobb. “So much power and courage will radiate at this event from all women in the room.”

Aside from being a full day of development, complete with actionable tools, networking, and inspiration, here’s where Leadercast excels: it’s right here in the Triad.

Along with Blanca Cobb, local roundtable facilitators include Michelle Spell, owner of Ava’s Cupcakes (and winner of Season 4 of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars!), Kim Thore, CMO of the United Way of Forsyth County, Yolanda Bynum, Consultant with Beyond Expectations Consulting and Brooke Eagle, Publisher of Forsyth Women Engaged magazine, among others.

“I’m always excited about events that include growth, leadership, and women, and this amazing event is focused on ALL THREE!” says Eagle. “Attendees can expect great content, discussion, networking, and more, with over 100 like-minded women.”

Registration includes admission, breakfast, lunch and snacks, a conference journal, swag bag, free parking, as well as the day of speakers and roundtable discussions.
