First responders’ duties bring them into harm’s way every day. Police officers, sheriff deputies, firefighters, and paramedics put themselves on the front lines and we often wonder how to thank these individuals, letting them know what they do every day makes a difference.
In an effort to thank our first responders, the Rotary Club of Clemmons, in conjunction with the Hero Project, is hosting Salute to First Responders Recognition Lunch on May 18th, 2021 at Agape Faith Church in Clemmons, NC, from 11am-1pm. The Hero Project is an initiative to help local rotary clubs find ways to honor First Responders and was presented to The Rotary Club of Clemmons by Rotary District 7690.
With the social distancing measures in place, the lunch will be in the parking lot at Agape Faith Church. Don Timmons with The Rotary Club of Clemmons said, “This lunch is a small way to give back to those who give so much to our communities every day. We will have tables and tents set up in the church’s parking lot, recognizing the current COVID situation to keep everyone safe. We are fortunate that Dairi-O has offered to provide lunch, which includes two hot dogs, chips, and a drink.”
“The lunch for first responders has been embraced by local businesses, with Flow Subaru being our major sponsor and Mr. Bill’s Productions our AV sponsor,” said Don.
Not only are local businesses a part of this great event, but community leaders will also be at the event. “We will have several guest speakers to kick off the lunch and share what First Responders mean to them. The Rotary Club of Clemmons believes the more the community knows about what first responders do and equate a face with a police officer, or paramedic, there’s a sense of unity bringing us all to join to make our communities better,” Don commented.
In addition to lunch, the Rotary Club of Clemmons will recognize each First Responder in attendance. “We will present to each First Responder at the lunch a recognition sheet noting the names of all of our supporting sponsors. This is a great way for them to know who is helping to recognize them for their service to our community. We invite all First Responders to join us for lunch so we can say ‘thank you,’ for all you do in the community,” stated Don.
First Responder Appreciation Lunch will be on May 18, 2021, 11am – 1 pm, or until all are fed, at Agape Faith Church parking lot, 2101 Lewisville-Clemmons Road, Clemmons, NC.
