It’s always fun to see a new restaurant on my list!  Especially when the reputation of that restaurant has already reached my ears, and specifically about their incredible Brussels sprouts!  As my friends know – I can practically eat my body weight in Brussels sprouts, and I had already heard how amazing they are at Sir Winston, so I arrived with high expectations!

First, we have to talk about location.  Sir Winston is downtown, and for many – downtown parking is a legitimate concern.  But can we say, “Hello, Valet Parking!”  For those visiting Sir Winston, simply take your parking slip with you for two-hour complimentary valet service!  YAY!  No excuses!  Someone else has to park the car!  And it’s only $5 for each additional hour after two!

So, after handing my car keys over for someone else to deal with, I joined our group inside.  The atmosphere at Sir Winston is stylish and modern décor, but it’s still warm and comfortable.  With a variety of tables and bistro-seating, it’s great for a cozy lunch with friends as well as larger groups!

This was actually a lunch review, which is kind of unusual.  While we were there, we were invited to sample some of the super yummy signature cocktails available at Sir Winston!  The first was called the IQ Salty Dog.  This was a mixture of Tito’s Vodka, fresh grapefruit juice, and rosemary syrup served with a salted rim.  It’s very similar to a margarita, but the grapefruit gives it a special, one-of-a-kind taste!

We also sampled the Raspberry Lemon Drop.  SweetTart fans will love this blend of tart and sweet!  Made with New Amsterdam Vodka, raspberry syrup, lemon juice, and pure sugar cane syrup – this one has pretty pink sugar on the rim!  Such a lovely, girly kind of drink!

Finally – fellas, we didn’t forget you!  The Sir Winston Signature Smoked Old Fashioned has your name all over it!  This is definitely a man’s man kind of drink that is made of Woodford Reserve, sugar cane syrup, Angostura Bitters, orange peel, and so cool – it’s smoked out with flavored woodchips!  It’s a statement maker!

As an appetizer while we tasted the yummy drinks, we had a dish both guacamole lovers and seafood lovers will unite over: the Lobster Guacamole!  Freshly made and packed with fresh avocado, this recipe is topped with decadent lobster meat!  This generous portion is made for sharing and served with a variety of ways to dip.  My personal recommendation is the plantain chips!  The guacamole was great on everything, but I just particularly loved the plantains for a different kind of flavor and texture.

Next we tasted several salads, beginning with the Gem Salad.  We had ours served with chicken, though other protein options are available.  These dressed greens and tomatoes were served with shaved parmesan cheese.  It was an elegant and hearty salad!

The Roasted Baby Beet Salad would make Dwight Schrute proud!  Served with whipped apricot goat cheese and candied pecans, the salad is drizzled with lemon vinaigrette!  This salad is bursting with earthy sweetness, as well as strong, bold flavors.  It’s a great salad guaranteed to be a favorite for many!

All the salads were delicious, but my favorite was the Burrata Tomatoes and Stone Fruit Salad.  Who on earth thought of putting peaches, mozzarella, and tomato on the same plate??  And then, to add a pesto balsamic glaze?  Mad and crazy genius!  The unusual combo packs a powerful flavor punch, and the grilled crostini that it’s served with is absolutely perfect.

Moving on to main courses, we tried the Sear Salmon with Black-Eyed Pea Ragout.  What is it about black-eyed peas?  I never think of eating them, but when I do, I love them!  These are delightful, and the salmon was excellent!

We also tried the Vegetarian Pimento Cheese Rueben.  Where on earth was this sandwich during my 13 years as a vegetarian??  Ask for extra napkins cause it’s gonna get messy, but oh, my – what a sandwich! Made with pimento cheese (as the name implies), it’s served with an unusual sauerkraut hummus, melted gruyere cheese, and thousand island on thick slices of marble rye!  For the meat lovers, you can ask for it with beef, too, but honestly – I didn’t miss a thing.  De. Licious.

Creativity is clearly the name of the game at Sir Winston, and the Curried Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwich is further proof of the culinary creativity that’s going on back in the kitchen.  Who puts chicken salad on raisin bread??  I’d slow-clap your ingenuity, but…. Well, I’m typing.  I need both hands.  But I can tell you this – I can’t wait to get my hands on another one of these!  Ah-mazing!

I interrupt this entrée review to share that both of our sandwiches were served with the “Soup of the Moment.”  For us – that meant Potato Leek and Cheddar Soup.  As a self-professed soup connoisseur, I was delighted with the texture and flavors!  The soup is ever-changing, so be prepared to be surprised!

We also sampled the AJ Fisherman’s Stew.  Seafood enthusiasts will love this mix of fresh fish and shellfish that is served in a tomato-based broth!  Perfect for a cool evening or a lighter appetite!

So, now – the showstopper.  Remember how I said I could practically eat my body weight in Brussels sprouts?  Well, I have four words for you:  Fried. Brussels. Sprouts. Tacos.  Be still my beating heart; I thought I had died and gone to heaven.  This crazy innovative taco is unbelievable.  A softshell tortilla is packed with fried Brussels and topped with chipotle aioli, cojita cheese, kimchi slaw, and piled with fresh avocado!  I about stopped the review over this one.  Seriously, my heart skipped a beat over this incredible dish!  Even if you are skeptical of Brussels, this will make a convert of anyone with a healthy set of taste buds!

I honestly could have eaten another Brussels Sprouts Taco for dessert, but instead, we were served a more traditional Raspberry Cheesecake with Hazelnut.  So many flavors and creamy goodness!  It was a perfect way to end an amazing meal!

So, what are you waiting for?  Go.  Now.  I mean, obviously, if you’re reading this after hours, you need to wait, but go.  And be sure to tell them that Rosey sent ya!
