Get a Jump on Summer with Winter Laser Treatments

Warmer temperatures are just around the corner and lounging by the pool with family and friends is at the top of the summertime fun list for many. Now is the perfect time to begin thinking about donning those bikinis and board shorts and… shedding that “winter fur.” People have desired that smooth-skinned look from head to toe since ancient Egyptian times; often using painful methods that produced short-lived results. A recent survey by the American Society of Dermatological Surgery found that laser hair removal is one of the most performed cosmetic procedures in the U.S., and with good reason. It is fast, affordable, requires no recovery time, and provides permanent results. If you are tired of repeatedly shaving, waxing, or plucking, make this the year to get rid of that undesirable body hair once and for all.

Lisa Wood, Salem Plastic Surgery Renewal MedSpa Practice Manager, shared that, “Clients have been asking for laser hair removal, and by offering the best product on the market, Candela GentleMax Pro, we now have the perfect addition to complete our wide range of very successful treatments for body contouring and facial rejuvenation.” Candela GentleMax Pro is the industry gold standard because it is highly effective in treating multiple skin types (up to level 6 on the Fitzpatrick Scale) and providing clients an 85-90% permanent hair reduction. “In order for clients to be well on their way to maximum hair reduction before summer, they should make an appointment for a skin and hair assessment now,” Lisa emphasized. Call today and make the waxing-waddle, chafing, and razor burn a thing of the past.

Benefits of Laser Hair Removal:

  • Time spent shaving and waxing is greatly reduced
  • No more checking bikini line, under arms, and legs before heading to the pool
  • Enjoy a more aesthetically appealing appearance when looking in the mirror

How does laser treatment work?

Without getting too technical, it essentially kills the blood supply to the hair follicles by sending highly concentrated light into them. The follicles absorb the light and destroy the hair. Understandably, hair that is coarse, dark, dense, and/or has an accelerated growth pattern necessitates a more aggressive treatment plan.

How many treatments are needed?

The amount of time needed for 85-90% permanent hair growth reduction is dependent upon the area for hair removal, with approximately 6 sessions lasting anywhere between 20 minutes (e.g. upper lip) to 60 minutes (e.g. full legs). Each treatment yields an additional 10% hair growth reduction. The time between treatments is dependent upon the hair cycle growth, color, and density of the unwanted hair. Facial hair treatments occur once every 6-8 weeks while other areas such as under arms occur once every 8-10 weeks.

What should I expect after the first treatment?

After the initial treatment, there is a shedding phase that lasts from one to three weeks, followed by three to six weeks of a hair-free phase. After that point, the hair growth cycle starts again, and the next hair loss treatment begins. At the end of 6 treatments, clients typically return for touch up treatments once every 6-12 months.

Is the treatment painful?

To ease any discomfort, patients can choose a numbing cream or Pro-Nox. Pro-Nox is an effective option that uses a 50/50 combination of inhaled oxygen and nitrous oxide and takes effect within seconds. The client purchases a tube and mouthpiece (initial fee of $50) and controls how much or how little is needed during the treatment (subsequent Pro-Nox sessions are $25). Patients give high praise for the Pro-Nox numbing option and enjoy the benefits of this analgesic while still being able to drive before and after the laser treatment.

Is laser treatment affordable?

In a word, yes! Renewal MedSpa staff help clients find an affordable option that works for them, regardless of the area(s) of concern.  For example, if a full bikini hair removal doesn’t fit the budget, an outer bikini can be performed which lowers the cost. Financing options are also available and can be found on their website.

How do I get started?

  1. Call and set up a hair removal consultation appointment.
  2. Meet with a laser treatment staff member for a hair/skin type assessment, pretreatment education, and post-care information.
  3. Schedule an appointment for the laser hair removal treatment.

At Salem Plastic Surgery Renewal MedSpa, highly trained and experienced staff members oversee the laser hair treatments. Whether clients choose a one-time treatment for a special occasion or purchase a package to greatly reduce hair on a desired body part, the ability to finetune individualized treatment plans promises clients excellent results.

“We customize treatments to fit each patient… enhancing their confidence and widening their smile.”
