The Cooper Scurry Facial Plastic Surgery Center – Finding the Best Version of Yourself

Whether you’re dreaming about a subtle change or something truly transformative, rejuvenating and restoring your looks through facial plastic surgery can be a wonderful, but very personal journey.

With all the emotions of that journey in mind, and inspired to help patients discover the very best versions of themselves, Dr. Cooper Scurry opened The Cooper Scurry Facial Plastic Surgery Center in Winston-Salem in 2023.

“I opened the center following 15 years in private practice so I could focus on my sub-specialty,” shares Dr. Scurry. “I loved working at PENTA (Piedmont Ear Nose and Throat Associates) where we took care of all kinds of patients and problems. But, in our new center, I can focus my time and talents on being a plastic surgeon who specializes in only the face, head, nose and neck areas.”

Known for his passion for artistic precision and thoughtful, always supportive patient-centric care, Dr. Scurry and his team strive for natural looking results that are tailored to your unique facial anatomy. Dr. Scurry also remains keenly aware that patients often have mixed feelings about choosing surgery. That’s when communication and active listening are essential.

“Some potential patients come to a consultation and want to schedule surgery the following day, while other patients are going to really need time to think about having surgery,” he adds. “I like my consultations to be very thorough, such that we can help a patient hear as much information about the surgical process as possible – including the before, during and after process.”

The Cooper Scurry Facial Plastic Surgery Center is a dedicated team of five including Dr. Scurry, his wife, Cherryel, who is officially the office manager (but wears many other hats as well), Licensed Clinical Esthetician and Social Media Coordinator Kate Margaret Sink, Patient Care Coordinator Mary Kathryn Thompson, and Ian Smith, Dr. Scurry’s current clinical assistant, who will start medical school at Wake Forest this summer!

Enhancing not only your looks but also your self confidence, the center offers both innovative cosmetic surgery and non-surgical esthetic procedures. Their belief is to enhance your natural beauty and confidence through personalized, innovative procedures. Among their most popular services are rhinoplasty (nose reshaping), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), otoplasty (ear surgery), facelifts, brow lifts, cheek and neck lifts, Botox and skin cancer reconstruction, plus a full menu of cosmetic aesthetic services that include microneedling, fillers, injectables, dermaplaning, lash lifts, brow tinting, facials and chemical peels.

As was Dr. Scurry’s original goal, the practice sets itself apart from others by only specializing in faces – with no operations performed on other parts of the body. Most of the procedures offered at the center are performed onsite, with more advanced surgical procedures typically performed on an outpatient basis at a nearby surgical center in Winston-Salem.

When asked to describe his personal patient philosophy, Dr. Scurry offers two replies.

“I’ll always listen carefully to a patient’s story, so I can focus on that individual’s ‘chief concern.’ Sometimes a patient will say to a plastic surgeon, ‘Doc, what can you do for me?’ I always like to re-direct this question more to the point of, ‘Well, how can I help you; what brings you to see us; what’s bugging you; what should we talk about?’ Once a patient can tell me something specific that’s bothering them, I’m able to give them some ideas and realistic options on how we may help.”

A Winston-Salem native, Dr. Scurry is a graduate of Reynolds High School, UNC-Chapel Hill, Wake Forest’s School of Medicine and Penn State’s Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency, and he also completed a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Scurry is Board-Certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Scurry and his staff stay at the forefront of technological advancements and techniques in facial plastic surgery and esthetics to deliver superior outcomes with both minimal downtime and minimal discomfort. Their state-of-the-art facility is fully equipped with the latest safety protocols that adhere to the highest standards of medical care.

On the personal side, Dr. Scurry and his wife attend Redeemer Church and have four children – William, 24, and Campbell, 19, both graduates of Mt. Tabor High School, Winston, 20, a graduate of Calvary Day School and Mille, 15, currently a sophomore at Mt. Tabor. He loves spending time with his family, playing basketball and golf, and supporting the wonderful Winston-Salem community!
