Starboard Accounting: Helping Businesses Close Out the Year

The end of the year is a very busy time for businesses. There is so much that needs to be done to prepare for the approaching tax season. Year-end planning, preparing 1099s, and getting all of the year’s paperwork together are just a few of the things that need to be accomplished before the year comes to an end. When a business gets overwhelmed by these tasks or gets behind putting them together, there is only one place to turn, Starboard Accounting & Consulting. They have the expertise you need to help you get everything ready in an efficient and timely manner.

Kerri Stewart opened Starboard Accounting in 2008. She loved working with numbers, thought it would be a fun business to start and hoped that maybe one day it would grow into her full-time job. And that is exactly what happened. When she lost her job during the recession, she decided to give this business her all. Now, 11 years later, her ten employees work with over 200 businesses each year to provide bookkeeping services throughout the triad, from Advance to Greensboro, and beyond. Though they do not provide tax preparation services, they do work with CPAs regularly and help businesses prepare all the things that the CPA will need.

This time of year, they find themselves helping businesses focus on end of year bookkeeping needs. Stewart said, “Year end planning to prepare for CPAs can be very time consuming and overwhelming for businesses. We are here to help. We are well aware of what CPAs will require and can help make sure everything you need is in line.” Stewart went on to discuss the work they do regarding 1099s, “ We also spend a lot of time helping businesses prepare their 1099s. Those have to be given to vendors by January 31st. We can help gather the vendor information that is needed and get them printed so you can be sure to meet the deadline.”

In addition to end of year planning, Starboard Accounting provides a variety of year-round bookkeeping services. They are available to create new or review existing bookkeeping records, provide accurate profit and loss statements, pay bills, create invoices and customer statements. They can provide your business with as much or as little as you need. The client can determine what their needs are and use the services available accordingly.

Payroll is another area where Starboard Accounting can be of assistance. Team members work with businesses regularly to handle their payroll needs. They are able to create paychecks, make direct deposits, pay taxes, and help with filing all the payroll forms.

One thing that sets Starboard Accounting apart is its QuickBooks Consulting. They provide a variety of services related to using QuickBooks in your business. Team members are available to train your employees on how to use the program. If you are having issues with the program, they can evaluate and fix issues to get you up and running again. If you need to upgrade your version or convert from another program, they can help with that, too. They even have two certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors on staff.
