Originally opened in High Point, North Carolina, as Alpha-Lit Triad, Alpha-Lit has recently expanded the number of counties serviced with the creation of Alpha-Lit High Country in January 2023. With a total of 14 counties now under Alpha-Lit’s belt, owner Ashley Tillery was initially drawn to opening Alpha-Lit’s Triad location after seeing a birth announcement post on social media featuring the brand’s marquee letters. By parlaying her 19 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and special events, she decided to reach out to license owners Mackenzie and Dan to fill the community’s need for a marquee letter rental service. Almost immediately, Ashley’s inbox was inundated with excited messages about Alpha-Lit establishing its Triad roots She anticipates even more excitement within the community following the recent additions of Alpha-Lit’s service in the Yadkin Valley and High Country.
Since 2020, Alpha-Lit’s growth has been apparent through its involvement with events such as Forsyth Magazines’ Women on the Move Conference, MerleFest, graduation celebrations, proms, weddings, and upcoming summer events at Appalachian State University. As a business owner for three years, and full-time for two of those years, Ashley has found solace in connecting with other small business owners throughout the community.

Marquee letter rentals are able to be reserved with a 50-percent deposit, and it is recommended to book as far in advance as possible – especially when planning an event over a holiday.
Social media’s influence on party decor and photo opportunities is something Ashley attributes to the success of Alpha-Lit. With an audience on platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, it is now more important than ever to party planners and guests to capture the moment, and to do so in the most photogenic way possible. Seeing the excitement on guests’ and hosts’ faces when Ashley plugs in the marquee letters is one of the most rewarding aspects of her new career. In fact, being able to use her creativity in arranging letters and customizing orders for renters brings her joy.
“I could spell the same thing over and over again with our marquee letters and never get bored,” explains Ashley. “There is something at Alpha-Lit for everyone, and we love filling custom orders of all kinds.”
