Local history

Owner Sandra Scarlette has been working in the auto industry since she was 14 years old. In 1997 she bought Pat’s Body Shop & Towing from her brother and has continued the legacy, built by her family, of that long-standing Winston-Salem business ever since. Scarlette prides herself on being a woman in an industry where that is not the most common thing you see. Scarlette said, “I am proud to be a part of this business and also proud to be the owner of the second-largest shop in the US owned by a single woman.” In a male-dominated field, she takes her role very seriously. She also uses her platform to highlight things that affect other women.

For instance, since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, both Scarlette’s Performance and Pat’s Body Shop & Towing are taking the time to raise awareness about this important issue. This year, on October 10, 2020, Scarlette’s Performance and Pat’s Body Shop are hosting  the first annual “Racing to Remember.”This all-day event at Farmington Raceway in Mocksville will raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness in memory of David Garwood, who passed away in 2019.  The event will also share the proceeds with the unborn son of Tyler Hodge, who passed away this year.

This year Scarlette decided to take her love of the auto industry to the next level by opening Scarlette’s Performance.
