Shopping for health insurance can be overwhelming. We all know we need coverage, but you might not know where to start looking or what is available. It makes the most sense to find someone you can trust to guide you through this process. Savers Health, headquartered on 4th Street in downtown Winston-Salem, is a local agency that can look at your specific needs and help you navigate which plans will be the best fit for you.
A local legacy committed to this community
Savers Health started in 1981 as Savers Life Insurance Company, here in Winston-Salem. During the 1980s and 1990s, they expanded to offer Senior Health and Major Medical insurance products. In 1998, the business rebranded as Savers Marketing and named Winston-Salem native Jerry Francis as President. In 2010 when the Affordable Care Act passed, Savers Health was created to assist customers enrolling in the healthcare plans offered through the North Carolina marketplace. In 2010 Matt and Scott Francis, sons of Jerry, joined the Savers Health team. Their goal was to serve the NC community and they have been successful in helping over 3,000 members during 2020. This year Savers continued their local commitment by recently renovating space in the former Chamber of Commerce building, as well as signing a 10-year lease in downtown Winston-Salem. There is no doubt they want to serve the Piedmont.
A variety of products available
- Health Insurance
Savers Health offers all creditable health insurance plans in North Carolina. If you are under the age of 65, you likely need a major medical or short-term medical policy. Major medical insurance is currently governed by the Affordable Care Act and offers pre-existing coverage, no waiting periods, and preventive services covered at no charge. Short-term medical coverage can protect you during a gap between your current health insurance and your next group plan or open enrollment. The short-term medical plans are not as rich in benefits as those under the Affordable Care Act but can have a significantly lower premium.
Medicare is a federal health benefits program covering seniors age 65 and older, or individuals with certain disabilities. Savers Health can help you make sure you’re enrolled in the right plan to fit your individual situation. Their locally licensed agents can also help you navigate your prescription drug coverage that can sometimes be complicated.
- Life Insurance
Savers Health offers term life, whole, and final expense life insurance plans to meet anyone’s needs in any phase of life. Their team has a great understanding of these policies and works with their clients to achieve their objectives.
- Dental and Vision
When you have an individual health insurance policy, you often have to add dental and vision insurance separately. The team at Savers Health has got you covered with affordable plans to help you keep up with routine dental care and vision assessments.
In addition to an extensive list of products, Savers Health offers budget-friendly plans, zero-cost advice, an easy application process, and next-day coverage. They represent numerous carriers, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Humana, Cigna, and many more.
