When you first embrace the idea of plastic surgery, you’re also embracing the possibility of loving life with the very best version of your beautiful self!
Enhancing a patient’s best features – while “keeping it real” – takes place every single day in the offices of Salem Plastic Surgery in Winston-Salem, as Dr. Scott L. Tucker and Dr. Hampton A. Howell remain true to their patients, every step of the way.
Specializing in cosmetic and restorative procedures for both women and men, Salem Plastic Surgery blends the care of a long-time staff known for honestly listening to patients’ deepest wishes and heartfelt goals, with a dedication to confidentiality. Choosing plastic surgery is a very personal decision and one you need to trust to experts who are well-qualified in their field.
Our Experts
Choosing the right plastic surgeon can, quite literally, affect how you feel for the rest of your life. A poor choice – and a less than perfect outcome – can cost you self-confidence, time, and even money. Research on your part definitely pays off, so look for board-certified physicians who have undergone a rigorous educational path to their medical certification.
Founded in 1990 by Dr. Tucker, every action at Salem Plastic Surgery is patient focused. When Dr. Howell joined the practice in 2006, the two physicians bonded over their similar philosophies and professional goals.
Fascinated with surgery as soon as he began rotations at medical school, Dr. Tucker completed his residency at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem. A native of High Point, NC, Dr. Howell received his medical doctorate degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and trained in New York City along the way, with many leaders in the field of cosmetic surgery.
Both doctors are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons – the only plastic surgery board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties – and are also members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and the prestigious American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).
Along with the much-loved doctor duo, the practice is blessed with the talents and professionalism of Donna Langley, RN, who is a certified nurse injector and laser specialist, and Sherri Harvey, their esthetician who creates custom personal treatments for patients, and also structures maintenance plans for those who’ve had a procedure done by one of the doctors. Both are also certified in CoolSculpting, a popular FDA-approved, non-surgical procedure which freezes fatty tissue.
An Impressive Repertoire
With a menu of services that includes eyelid surgery, chin surgery, facelifts, body contouring, liposuction, smartlipo, CoolSculpting, rhinoplasty, breast reconstruction, reduction, or augmentation, and wonderful non-surgical procedures such as Botox® (a popular cosmetic treatment to relax and soften wrinkles), Juvederm® (injectable fillers to smooth wrinkles and folds), and Kybella (the only FDA-approved injectable that destroys fat cells under the chin), the practice is serious about offering multiple options, but with the most reliable results. Their research and continued education is one element they feel sets the practice apart from others.
“We are not quick to offer only whatever is new and trendy,” explains Lisa Wood, practice manager. “We investigate thoroughly before adding only the safest and most effective treatments, both surgical and nonsurgical.”
While a spa facility may offer several non-surgical procedures, you may also be encouraged to pursue one of those when you would benefit more from a surgical option – but those facilities don’t have surgical choices available to them. With both readily available here, and with two operating suites within the office, Salem Plastic Surgery is also certified by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities Inc. For more extensive surgical procedures, both doctors have privileges at Medical Park Hospital, Forsyth Medical Center, and Hawthorne Surgery Center.
During every initial consultation at Salem Plastic Surgery, the staff sits down with a prospective client to determine the ultimate goal, and make sure their expectations are realistic. Dr. Tucker and Dr. Howell have seen through the years that those results patients expect to see in the mirror come in all varieties, and it’s their job to stress the role genetics and lifestyle play in our overall appearance. Even though certain procedures can reverse the inevitable signs of aging, long-time smoking and repeated sun damage certainly had their influence, too. Keeping the journey realistic is a vital part of the process!
If a patient is interested in a complete, overall change, the surgeons at Salem Plastic Surgery can customize a plan that may involve a combination of more extensive surgical procedures, or they may suggest a more gradual approach, performed in varying stages. These decisions are always made in the best interest and for the safety of the patient, while taking into consideration their overall desired outcome.
