In 2022, Triad Cultural Arts partnered with Heritage 365 to initiate a scholarship pageant to acknowledge Juneteenth. After two successful years, we realized that this was more than a pageant; it is a collective journey of empowering women, especially young women of color. Thus, we have grown into the Queen Juneteenth Project.
Our mission is to empower, elevate and excel young women of color.
We value:
- Positive identity & self worth
- Leadership
- Service in the community
- Sisterhood
- Scholarship
- Arts & Culture
- To access scholarships, we partner with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School system and the United Negro College Fund by providing a renewable four-year scholarship to a pageant winner who will attend a Historically Black College or University in the amount of $30,000.
- To develop leadership, we help ensure that participants are ready for their next chapters in life by attending a series of monthly workshops consisting of local black and women history, financial wellness, education on scholarships and processes, the history and advantages of attending a historical black college or university, all aspects of becoming a strong, effective leader, as well as etiquette in dining, social media and public venues.
- To build sisterly relationships, girls are chosen from a variety of WSFCS. They also receive training on how to become an emotional, intelligent leader who can use their emotions to communicate and relate to others effectively and constructively.
- Finally, they master theatrical arts with poise and presence.
