Publisher’s Perspective; July 2026

This month, we’re thrilled to feature Clare Fader of Fader Realty on our cover! Clare is also the force behind Best of Winston, a phenomenal email newsletter and social media presence dedicated to sharing the very best of Winston-Salem.

Now, you may be thinking, “Brooke, isn’t that kind of a competitor to your magazines?” I’m so glad you asked.

If you know me, you know I’m a firm believer in community over competition. Over the years, I’ve shared coffee dates with other publishers, brainstormed with fellow marketers and content creators, and cheered on countless local businesses doing amazing things. Not everyone operates from that mindset (and that’s perfectly okay) but for me, we’re simply better together. I will always look for opportunities to celebrate our community, support local businesses, and champion the people who make Forsyth County such a special place to call home.

Speaking of special places, our cover shoot took place in one of the most stunning homes I’ve ever stepped inside. Nestled in Old Salem, this home completely took my breath away. The library was incredible, the colorful and eclectic design was full of personality, and the kitchen featured a perfectly placed window designed to capture a postcard-worthy view of the downtown Winston-Salem skyline. It was *chefs kiss.* During the shoot, I was telling Clare about one of my favorite homes in my own neighborhood that had recently gone up for sale. As it turns out, her buyers were the ones who purchased it! It’s a small world, and one of the many reasons I love this community.

We’re also incredibly excited about this month’s Girls’ Night Out! If you’ve been around for a while, you know we never miss an opportunity to celebrate Keela and Robin. Keela (my mom) and Robin (my second mom, lifelong family friend, and former publisher of Forsyth Family) have birthdays just one day apart (July 15th and July 16th) so we’re throwing a celebration in honor of them both on July 16th at Second Harvest Food Bank.

The theme? Let’s Eat Cake!

I’ve also heard there may be a champagne bar involved, which sounds like the perfect way to celebrate. One of my favorite quotes is, “When’s the best time to celebrate? Whenever you can!” and that’s exactly what we’re doing. We hope you’ll join us for an evening of fun, friendship, a little champagne and, of course, cake. Advance tickets are required, so be sure to scan the QR code on page XX for details. And don’t forget to follow us on social media (@forsythmags) and subscribe to our newsletter so you never miss a Girls’ Night Out event.

If you haven’t already, be sure to pick up a copy of our sister publication, Forsyth Family, this month. My other business, Washington Park CrossFit, is featured on the cover, and I couldn’t be more excited to share this story with our readers.

As always, we pour our hearts into every page of this magazine, and we are so grateful that you choose to spend your time with us each month. Thank you for supporting local businesses and supporting our mission of keeping this wonderful community connected.

Wishing you a beautiful summer, and we’ll see you at Girls’ Night Out on July 16th!

All my best,

Brooke
