Pretty In Pink Foundation’s 3rd Annual Battle of the Badges Softball Tournament

On October 23rd, local heroes will come together for the 3rd Annual Battle of the Badges Softball Tournament to benefit the Pretty In Pink Foundation, whose mission is “…to provide uninsured and under-insured breast cancer patients in NC with financial assistance for quality, lifesaving medical treatment.” Members of Winston-Salem Fire Rescue, Winston-Salem Police and Forsyth County Sheriffs will take part in this extraordinary event to help those who so desperately need it.

“This mission is local, personal and lifesaving,” said Sayla Nedell, Pretty In Pink Foundation’s business development manager. “We have the ability to help remove the financial barrier to care for qualifying, breast cancer patients in NC. The Pretty In Pink Foundation (PIPF)  is so grateful to be in a partnership with the Battle of the Badge Charity Softball Tournament as well as our wonderful sponsors. These sponsors chose to support us because they know the difference we can make in the life of a breast cancer patient in their community.”

This year’s event is going to be spectacular thanks to generous sponsors and unwavering support of the local community. “This is our first year partnering with the Sergeant Mullins and the first responders for the Battle of the Badges event,” said Nedell. “We are just delighted to be a part of this community wide event and are so grateful to Sergeant Mullins for his commitment to making a difference for breast cancer patients in our community. The Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Tournament provides a wonderful opportunity for the men and women who support our community 24/7 to come together with their families to enjoy an afternoon on the ballfield. PIPF is so appreciative that they are supporting our cause to help save more lives in our community.”

The event will be held on October 23rd at 3pm at Wake Forest University’s David Couch Ballpark located at 401 Deacon Boulevard in Winston-Salem. This year’s event will include a raffle to win a Ford Mustang GT. Tickets can be purchased at the Winston-Salem Police Department District 3 Office located at 2393 Winterhaven Lane, at Peak Insurance located at 108 Cambridge Plaza Drive and at both Parkway Ford locations in Winston-Salem located at 3150 University Parkway and 2104 Peters Creek Parkway. Raffle tickets will also be in sale with the car on display at the Carolina Classic Fair and other area events leading up to the softball tournament.

Those who are unable to attend or who wish to do more can go directly to the Pretty In Pink Foundation’s website to make a donation. Make sure you note that your donation is for the Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Tournament (www.prettyinpinkfoundation.org).

“Many patients are forced to choose paying for their medical treatment or living expenses,” said Nedell. “Our hope is to continue our tradition of never turning a qualified, breast cancer patient away.”
