Even with today’s technology and ways to capture a moment in time, nothing truly shares a memory like a photograph. It’s that thought that Megan Black of Megan Black Photography said inspired her choice in pursuing photography not only as a passion, but as a career.

A Passion for Photography

Since Megan was a teenager, she’s had a camera in her hands and loved freezing a moment in time in a photograph, but she’s only pursued photography as her livelihood for the past five years. “I started my photography business in June 2017 after my daughter’s 1st birthday session with a local photographer was a bust. Thanks to teething and no time for a nap, we left the session with maybe one smile out of my daughter. So, the next morning I picked up a camera I had laying around the house and took her out and took her photos myself. After that was a success, I realized I wanted to do it more and more! After bribing my family and friends to let me take their photos, I finally got the courage to offer my services to the public. In October 2017, I had my first client and to this day, that client has booked me for all their big life events!” said Megan. In May 2021, with the support of her husband, Billy, Megan quit her full-time, 9-5 job and committed to her photography business. Now, the sky’s the limit in the photography she does!

Helping People Capture Life’s Moments

“I take all types of photos from couples, engagements, weddings, maternity, lifestyle, newborns, first birthdays, families, and any moment my clients want to capture. I also work with local businesses, many featured in Forsyth Woman, to help share their stories in the magazine. You name it and I’m here for you! Lately, my favorite types of photos are weddings. I also love clients who continue to call and have me follow their special times in life…whatever they may be,” Megan commented.

Although Megan Black Photography is located in the Triad area, she’s available to travel and will happily do so for shoots outside the area.

“I have been to Utah twice and to Wyoming this year. Over the next few months, I have sessions coming up in Florida, South Carolina, and Montana. I love making people feel good about themselves! It’s amazing how a photo can make someone feel. I’ve made so many connections and friends through my business. There’s something about a photo that can bring people together, as friends or family. I have always believed in ‘a photograph is a pause button on life’ and ‘photography is the memory of our lives.’ I’m so fortunate to be trusted by my clients to share in their lives and be part of getting those moments of a lifetime recorded. I love what I do!” stated Megan.
