“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” – Maya Angelou
This month, I asked our team to let us in on the BEST advice they’ve ever received. You can see their responses in our print issue! I’ve received a ton of great advice in my lifetime, but the Maya Angelou quote above stands out as some of the best. It speaks to me because I’ve absolutely done things I’m not proud of—but at those times, I didn’t know better. This quote inspires me because it reminds me that no matter our age, we’re all doing the best we can and striving to know better so that we can do better in the future.
Speaking of amazing women like Maya Angelou…You may have known March 8th is International Women’s Day, but did you know the month of March is Women’s History Month? While Forsyth Woman celebrates (ALL) women all year long, this month is extra special. Be sure to check out Elisa’s article on Women’s History Month as well as learn more about a special Women Build Program through Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County.
Jennifer Ertl, Founding Member and Managing Director with Beautycounter, is gracing our March cover! The Beautycounter mission is to get safer products into the hands of everyone. I know I’m not the only one that has been shocked to see how many harmful chemicals are in everyday beauty products we’re using—from deodorant to foundation and everything in-between. Having a mother that has survived cancer not once but twice, definitely causes me to take a second look at the chemicals I’m putting into and onto my body.
Introducing our readers to local businesses is at the core of our mission and in this issue, we are proud to continue that. From meeting the team at the Barn at Country Club to learning about the new products and services offered at Alkali Hair Salon’s new location off West End Blvd, we’ve got you covered!
We hope you’ll learn a few new things about our amazing community in the upcoming pages… and as always, be sure to give @forsythmags a follow on social media!
All my best,
B
