True Culler has been in business for almost two years. Co-founded by Jason Culler, who oversees the financial side of the business, Rashaun Edwards is responsible for all design and print production.
As the head of design for True Culler, Rashaun focused on graphic arts and imaging technology in college. Rashaun credits his professor, Lee Smith at Forsyth Tech Community College, with encouraging his artistic skills, particularly in pointillism, and helping him to develop those abilities into a marketable skillset. In gratitude for the mentoring Rashaun experienced in college, he is planning to “pay it forward” and develop a summer intern program at True Culler for students interested in graphics design to provide hands-on experience and training.
In 2014, Rashaun won second place in the nationally recognized SkillsUSA competition with an emphasis on speed, quality, and accuracy. Also, he won four PICA awards sponsored by the Printing Industry of the Carolinas during his college years. “The freedom to design high-quality products for my clients who trust my creativity,” shared Rashaun, “is the driving force behind the True Culler philosophy of delivering products that help advance their name and footprint in the community.”
True Culler offers customized screen-printing or embroidery designs for activewear, polo shirts, t-shirts, outerwear, hoodies, sweatshirts, caps, and more. Utilizing a variety of vendors sourced locally and nationally, Rashaun works closely with clients to create the optimal design for their unique need. Rashaun explained, “Typically we prepare up to four options for our client’s selection. We may make a recommendation on which vendor offers the best blank product to showcase the intended design and can provide competitive pricing. Once the design is selected and rendition approved, we oversee all production, which is completed on-site. From design to completion, most projects are ready for either pick-up or delivery at the client’s convenience within two weeks.”
True Culler’s business has grown via word of mouth, online order options, and drop-by visits from local businesses. Rashaun focuses on the next generation design style. As he explained, “Young people are interested in wearing well-designed, innovative fashions. The key is to keep up with current marketing trends in the apparel industry and translate them into designs that people enjoy wearing. We work with our clients to create apparel designs and signage for holidays, fundraising events, celebrations, and more.”
True Culler also has a strong belief in supporting the community. As such, they sponsor the GRIT baseball team for kids ages eight to twelve.
