Shortly after his birth in Richmond, VA, Damian moved to upstate New York where he was raised by his grandparents until the age of 6. In 1979, Damian moved to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and was adopted shortly thereafter. Over the years, he went from being an only child to becoming the oldest of eight. He has five brothers and two sisters. There is a difference of 23 years between himself and his youngest sibling. Growing up, Damian was active in the Boy Scouts, the FFA, and he ran cross country. Damian served in the Army National Guard from 1990 to 1996 and he graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1995 with a BA in English. In 1998, Damian began teaching and spent 16 years as a public educator. He coached cross country for over ten years at his alma mater, Riverheads High School and at Glenn High School in Winston-Salem. He left teaching in 2017 and now works for a company that contracts with Nike and the PGA Tour which requires a great deal of travel. When he isn’t on the road, Damian is a general contractor with Parker construction company. He has a 20 year old son studying to be a nurse anesthetist at Western Carolina University and he has a 16 year old son who is a junior at Glenn high school. Damian is an avid runner who has completed a marathon and has won a handful of 5ks. His mornings of waking up at 4:30 and getting a run in before work have been a daily ritual for many years. Damian has recently started writing about his life experiences and he looks forward to the exciting opportunities that await him.
