Move It AND Lose It – Today

Today I choose….

Today I choose happiness over fear.

Peace over Anger

Joy over sadness.

Today I blame no one,

Love everyone,

especially myself.

Today I will make mistakes

Learn and Grow

Educate others.

Today I stop complaining

Accepting what I cannot change

Throwing away the rest.

Today the mask comes off

I am open and honest

I am who I am

Today I make a choice

for a better tomorrow.

Time after Time after Time…

Do you have those movies that when you surf by on TV, you just have to stop and watch, doesn’t matter what point in the movie?  Next thing you know all those plans of cleaning out the closet dissapeared into 2 hours of bliss?  Here’s a few favorites:

Time Traveler’s Wife – I swear I ball at the end of the movie every time

The Shining – Here’s Johnny!  Can you change the channel?

The Lake House – Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock who would have guessed?

Jaws – “We’re gonna need a bigger boat…..”

Hope Floats – Can beat the look of Harry Connick Jr.

Death At A Funeral – still one of the most hilarious movies

When Harry Met Sally – even if its past the deli scene

The Alien Collection – like a train wreck you gotta stop and check it out

Pulp Fiction – you just can’t breeze past the comeback of John Travolta

Fast and Furious – OK, maybe just A LITTLE eye candy?

Back to the Future – 88 miles per hour!  OK, gotta watch this one!

Sure we know the outcomes, sure some may make us cry every time, but we’re drawn to these great movies as an escape.  What would you add to the list?

That Black Cloud Following Me…..

Ever had that series of missteps, that one day where there are many things thrown in your way, things that want to take away your sense of peace? For us endurance athletes, it’s like that pebble that finds its way into your shoe, but you’re just too stubborn to stop and get it out!

My first black cloud was working out next to Grace, you know the one in the class-perfect in form, no jiggle no wiggle. Grace did each dive bomber with ease while I was leaving my trail of tears. It felt like tears, my muscles hurt so much but it was actually a trail of sweat! As my hands slipped I moved a bit down to get a better grip, by the end of 7 minutes I had a trail of sweat drops that looked like a trail of tears!

Second came when I went to take my shower and had the SMALLEST towel in my gym bag, close enough to be called a “hand” towel but this was supposed to cover my “body.” Nothing like walking into the shower with it ALL hanging out! After the shower the only think I remembered to bring was a sports bra – ever try to put a sports bra on a wet body?

I went through my day pushing against all those forces pushing against me. Went to the car wash and somehow broke the car wash after the foam soap was applied to my car. Sat there for a few minutes wondering, do I pull out? Is it working? Did I choose the pre soak mode? My 7 dollar car wash turned into my 14 dollar car wash as I left it with the wand hanging half way and went to another one.

Now I sit at my computer and pull at the good mood that’s still floating around until I realize that for some reason I got an AARP card in the mail! I’m not even close to AARP age, I gotta go get some hair color.

This is that type of day where every time I use the bathroom, I’m checking my foot!

Ever had that series of missteps that try to take away your peace? What do you do to push back at that black mood?

Hello my name is Kelly and I’m addicted to Facebook…

kelfbHello my name is Kelly and I’m addicted to Facebook

The website’s tag line is “Facebook helps your connect and share with the people in your life.”

Facebook is a great way to connect with friends and family.  We’ve angered the college students as all of us old folks  take over this internet application.  The benefit  is that I’ve connected with family in different states, to different countries AND found all of my old classmates from gradeschool through college, even that old boyfriend (I made sure all my pictures looked good).

Facebook allows you to touch people easily.  You can read everyone’s status updates and comment without the hassle of picking up the phone, or writing that long email.  If you’re like me and really don’t like spending a lot of time of the phone, Facebook keeps you in touch with everyone easily.

Some people argue that Facebook is a place for stalkers.  Most internet sites could contain stalkers, it’s how you manage your profile.  My profile is setup so friends and family I approve can view it, I don’t make it known to the world, and I don’t accept friend requests from people I don’t know and we don’t have any friends in common.  My only advice is to watch what you do post because employers now check Facebook pages on potential employees, so if you have college students that only post partying stuff, they may want to think twice about it for the job market.

Facebook is my way to show the creative side of myself, to showcase my writing with friends and family.  When the friend request came in from some guy sitting shirtless in front of a typewriter,  I politely ignored because I had no idea who he was…stalker.

Do you Facebook?  Are you a fan of the Forsyth Woman fan page?  Are you obsessed?  What’s the favorite status update you’ve seen?
