You don’t have to look far to see that businesses are trying to find environmentally friendlier ways to do what they do, and in Clemmons, The Singing Bird salon and beautique, is no exception. “My salon and beautique, The Singing Bird, is an eco-friendly salon, spa and boutique for women, men and children. All our products, including hair care, nail polish and makeup are organic and vegan, meaning no product is tested on or contains any animal products.

We also have handbags and clothing for women,  men and kids which are made from recycled products. Along with our ‘green’ approach to our hair and skin care lines and boutique items, we have gone as ‘green’ as you can  with the appliances in the salon. From the paint on the walls, to the energy efficient lights, to the shampoo bowls, we are organic,” stated owner and esthetician, Christin  Reece.

Making the Change is All about One Step at a Time

Going green is definitely a lifestyle change, both professionally and personally for Reece, but one that came in baby  steps. “I have always had issues with beauty products and being allergic to them, until I tried organic products and found that I got great results and didn’t have to deal with  any skin issues. From there, with a daughter who had food allergies and a mom with cancer, I began buying organic foods. Little by little we changed our lifestyle, so it  seemed like a great idea when I decided to open my own completely organic salon,” Reece said.
