The Junior League of Winston- Salem (JLWS) is a group of women focused on building a better community through volunteerism. The non-profit organization supports itself through annual fundraisers such as the much anticipated annual Rummage Sale and now, the annual Boo-tique shopping sale.
This year marks the 2nd annual weekend- long event, and this year’s organizers are hoping for an even better turnout than last year. “We had more than 2,000 people in attendance last year,” said Whitney Webster, Boo-tique co-chairperson. “We are hoping for around 5,000 people this year.” Organizers of the Boo-tique are making this goal possible by adding new elements to the sale to entice parents of young children to attend. “The kids are out of school on break that Friday, so we are going to have a children’s craft area on Friday, as well as a costume contest for children up to age 12 on Saturday afternoon,” said Webster. “Triad Moms on Main is one of our sponsors, and they are helping us with activities for the children, so the parents can shop. We will also have professional photographer Nicole Nelson on hand to take pictures.”
