A second-generation physician, Dr. Shapiro has been inspired by the career of his father, who himself practiced family medicine, and his brother, who was an ophthalmologist. After serving as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force, Dr. Mark Shapiro founded Shapiro Eye Care in 1976 with a commitment to delivering outstanding medical care with a strong personal touch.

“My father and brother encouraged me to build a practice committed to overall patient care,” said Dr. Shapiro. “I see patients of all ages and provide general eye care, cataract surgery and LASIK surgery. I have dedicated my entire career to improving the quality of life and overall eye health by providing compassionate patient-centered care.”

In today’s climate of managed health care and complex insurance requirements, Shapiro Eye Care’s brand of sincere, caring, personal service can seem a little old-fashioned. But when it comes to technology, Shapiro Eye Care is strictly state-of-the-art. “My LASIK suite is equipped with the most advanced lasers in use n the United States,” noted Dr. Shapiro. “The doctors and staff all participate regularly in continuing education programs, seminars, and ophthalmic society meetings to learn the latest developments and keep up with the best and most effective treatment methods.”
