From the moment you walk into Sassy & Classy Boutique you know there is something different, and that difference is not only in the trendy and sassy items and one of a kind classy buys, but in the feel that Shellen Phillips has given her shop.

“Family has always been very important to me and I wanted to incorporate pieces of my family’s  history in the shop, giving the boutique a shabby chic decor. I used tin from my grandfather’s old barn to build part of the counter where the cash register sits, doors from  my grandparents’ homes, and old furniture pieces and antique suitcases that my great-grandmother owned to display my merchandise. It means a lot to come to work every day  and see these special things from my life and family combined with the unique items that I have in my boutique. To me they go hand in hand,” commented Shellen.

A Life-Long  Dream

Sassy & Classy Boutique opened almost 3 months ago, fulfilling a life-long dream of Shellen’s, of being her own boss and of having a boutique that is different from any  other retail shop. I left a full time job with benefits, a steady and predictable income, to step out on a limb with Sassy & Classy. But the entire process was bathed in prayer,  from the first thought of it to actually taking the step to locate and open a retail space. My family has been, and continues to be, a huge supporter of the business. All along the  way, I continued to have prayers answered, leading me to know that this is something that is blessed and I hope I can, in return, be a blessing to my customers,” Shellen said.
