Logi B. Designs: An 11-Year-Old Who is All Business…Well, the FUN Kind of Business! ?By Brooke Johnson
About a year ago, 11-year-old Logan Brooke Prysiazniuk had an idea. Logan was learning about recycling at school and decided she wanted to use her love of fashion, along with the concept of going green, to create something all her own. “I noticed people have been starting to wear scarves a lot lately,” Logan said.  So, what did she do? She created Logi B. Designs. She, along with her mom and grandmother, began sewing together scarves from various pieces of sweaters, creating beautiful and unique designs. Before long, business was booming. In October of 2009, Logi B. Designs was featured on the front page of the Winston-Salem Journal, and then in November she, her mother and grandmother were featured on the cover of Forsyth Woman magazine wearing the scarves. According to Logan, this is when things really took off. “We had people coming to buy scarves from Mt. Airy, High Point, Greensboro and even Virginia!” Scarves were flying off the shelves so fast it was getting to be challenging to keep up with the demand. By the end of December, Logi B. Designs had sold an astonishing 1,200 scarves! ?Since each and every scarf is made by hand, it’s not a short process to make a Logi B. Design scarf. How do Logan, her mom and grandmother keep up? “Sometimes we have to stay up really late to finish, but we have fun and have even started a weekly tradition: on Wednesday nights we go to Nana’s house to eat dinner and then make scarves while we watch American Idol together.”?Logi B. Design scarves are always available at Hip Chics boutique in Clemmons, but can also be found at a boutique in Greenville, SC, Genoa, OH, Midway, NC, Statesville, NC  and plan to soon be featured at a boutique in NYC! Logan tells me that the profits from her scarves are going towards her college fund, and some of it also goes to a local animal shelter because of her love for animals. At only 11-years-old, Logan already knows her future plans. She intends to go UNC Chapel Hill for four years and then move to New York City to study design and become a fashion designer. I would say she is well on her way to success! ?The latest idea from Logi B. Designs came a few months ago from a neighbor whose mother had passed away. This neighbor asked Logan if she would make her a scarf with some of her mother’s sweaters, jewelry and brooches. What an awesome way to remember a loved one! All you would need to do is gather some sweaters and a brooch, button or pieces of jewelry, from your loved one, and Logi B. Designs will create a memory scarf from these items. The best part of a memory scarf is that when you wear it, that person’s special scent will still be on the scarf. Since only a small piece of the sweater is used to make a scarf, multiple memory scarves could be made with just a few sweaters and jewelry, buttons, brooches, etc.  If you or someone you know is struggling with the death of a loved one, consider a memory scarf in honor of the person who has passed away.  Logi B. Designs will work with you, your friends and/or family members to create special, meaningful scarves to honor and cherish the memory of the one who has passed.?Logan has also started making scarves with your favorite college’s colors. So far, she has made scarves for UNC , Ohio State, Wake Forest and ECU, just to name a few! Currently, she is working on a few Clemson scarves. But the best part about Logan’s scarves are that every single one is unique—and while wearing one, you won’t go without receiving at least a few compliments. ?When asked what advice she would give to other young girls aspiring to start a business, Logan says “Don’t worry about being too young…you’re never too young to start a business!” Logi B. Design scarves are available for sale at Hip Chics Boutique in Clemmons, and be sure to check out their new website, www.LogiBDesigns.com.
