School’s starting and there is new excitement in the halls. Children are nervous, meeting new teachers, and there is the squeak of new shoes on clean floors and creases in new clothes. There are the bright and shiny lunch boxes and the smell of new bookbags as the bell rings. Unfortunately, right here in the Triad, there are children nervous about the first day of school because they cannot afford the supplies needed – from crayons to pencils to the much needed bookbag!
Forsyth Woman and Forsyth Family are teaming up to Fill the Bookbags of local Triad children as school approaches and need your help!
Bring school supplies to Girls’ Night Out and Kids’ Morning Out and receive extra tickets for our incredible prize drawings. Bring a Bookbag and receive double tickets for our prize drawings. Not only are you increasing your chances of winning, but you’re helping a child get a productive start to the school year. Ask teachers in the area and they agree. “You’d be amazed at how a child cherishes a bookbag donated to them through the school year. There’s a different swagger to their walk, they feel confident – like they fit in with the other children,” says Maria Glazener, a teacher in the school system.
When donating supplies and bookbags to needy children, you’re not only changing a child’s life, but that of the whole family. “Donated supplies don’t just stay with the child. They bring those supplies home and share them with brothers and sisters. For the family that doesn’t have much, this is joy to all the children,” adds Glazener.
