In her business and her personal life, Marti Dizon cares for people. Dizon’s mother, who has Alzheimer’s disease, lives with her, and Dizon’s father lives next door. Dizon, the mother of five children, says the issues she faced in caring for her parents led her and friend Janis Gundy to help other families meet the same challenges. The two opened Homewatch CareGivers of the Triad in 2009.

Gundy died suddenly six months after she and Dizon opened the business, but her spirit lives on with the other members of the  Homewatch team,” Dizon said.

Homewatch CareGivers of the Triad is a franchise of Homewatch CareGivers International, a well-respected provider of home care services for  over 30 years with 191 offices around the world.

Homewatch offers several types of home care services, including companion and hands-on care. Companion caregivers offer  emotional support and help with errands, tasks and chores. Hands-on caregivers are certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and assist with safe bathing, grooming, transportation, and other activities of daily living. A handicap-accessible van is available for transportation services. All home care services are supported by a registered nurse, who  supervises, mentors, and oversees the training of caregivers.

The company also offers pregnancy and new mother support, short term assistance for people undergoing medical procedures, and backup childcare for employees of large companies.
